Steven Higginson is a contemporary portrait painter born and living in Scotland. He graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone in Dundee in 2004 and in the same year was awarded The Aiden Threlfall Traveling Scholarship from the Goldsmith’s Company in London which he used to spend time in Europe studying the works of the Old Masters.
Since then, Steven has developed his work to focus exclusively on portraiture. His distinctive use of light and shadow, combined with honest realism has won him acclaim internationally and at home. His paintings feature in private collections around the world, namely the United States. Steven’s portraits were part of the BP Portrait Award in 2019 and 2020, during which his work was exhibited in the National Portrait Galleries in London and Edinburgh.
